Who can apply?
Researchers, including those affiliated with not-for-profit bodies, organizations, and associations, who comply with the conditions set out in DSA Article 40 paragraph 8, points (b), (c), (d), and (e), and who use the data solely for performing research that contributes to the detection, identification, and understanding of systemic risks in the European Union pursuant to DSA Article 34(1).
Conditions set out in paragraph 8 points (b), (c), (d), and (e) are:
- The researcher must have no commercial interests regarding the proposed research.
- The researcher’s application must disclose the funding of the research.
- The researcher must meet specific data security and confidentiality requirements.
- The researcher must describe the technical and organizational measures put in place to protect data.
- The researcher must explain why they need access to the data and why for the requested amount of time exactly.
- The expected results of the proposed research must contribute to the detection, identification, and understanding of systemic risks in the European Union, as set out in Article 34(1), and to the assessment of the adequacy, efficiency, and impacts of the risk mitigation measures as set out in DSA Article 35.
